Haliegh Reinoehl Joins the Fold

With the preseason etching closer and closer, the Mainland Pouākai continue to bolster the frontcourt by securing the services of 6’2” import forward Haliegh Reinoehl.

In recent years, Reinoehl has made a home for herself in Australia playing for the Mt Gambier Pioneers of the NBL1 South. This past season, she posted averages of 15.4 points and 7.3 rebounds while also drilling 1.7 three-pointers per game at a 39.4% clip. With the Pouākai, Reinoehl will reunite with former Mt Gambier teammate Cassandra Brown.

“Having Haliegh join us for the upcoming Tauihi Aotearoa season is a huge boost for the programme. She is a versatile defender and skilled scorer from all three levels,” said Head Coach Paul Flynn. “Haliegh is long, athletic, and fiercely competitive. She has made every team she has been on better.”

“We’re excited to bring Haliegh into the fold, and reunite her with former teammate and good friend Cassandra Brown. Together the two made Mt Gambier a powerhouse in the NBL1 South and we’re excited to see them team up for the Pouākai.”

Reinoehl played 4 years of college basketball at the University of Akron, averaging 14.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game during her senior season. Before joining the NBL1, she played professionally in both Switzerland and Germany.

“I got the opportunity to come to New Zealand from NBL1 in Australia and I am super excited to play in a new and growing league,” said Reinoehl. “Cass was my teammate for 2 years and I’m so excited to play with her again at the Pouākai.”

“Fans can expect me to be someone who will play hard for her team and represent the club in the best of her ability.”

Haliegh Reinoehl joins a Pouākai roster beginning to take serious shape, featuring Esra McGoldrick, Sharne Robati, Mikhaela Cann, Cassandra Brown, McKenzie Forbes, and Tara Manumaleuga. Stay tuned for more player announcements coming your way soon!
