CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — We’re thrilled to welcome back Australian guard Morgan Yaeger for her second season with the ProcureX Mainland Pouākai.
In her first season with the Mainland Pouākai, Yaeger averaged 12.3 points and 3.9 assists per game during the 2025 Tauihi season.
“I’m really excited to have Morgan back for a third season together,” said Head Coach Alex Stojkovic. “She knows exactly how I want us to play, and she’s a perfect fit for the style of basketball we’re building here. Morgan has shown over the past few seasons that she’s the most explosive guard in Tauihi. She’s incredibly difficult to stay in front of, brings a real x-factor to our offence, and has the ability to create opportunities for both herself and her teammates.”
Yaeger kept her goals for the 2026 Tauihi season simple: “I just want to win. We couldn’t quite get it done last year, and I want to make that right and help the Pouākai win its first championship.”
Fresh off an NBL1 North Finals appearance, she averaged 19.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game throughout the season. The 2024 Tauihi Finals MVP returns to the Pouākai hungry to compete for another championship.
“After a terrific NBL1 season, I expect Morgan to come into camp confident, in great shape, and ready to make an immediate impact,” said Stojkovic. “The attention she demands from opposition defences creates so many opportunities for the players around her, particularly our shooters. She’s an incredibly important piece of what we’re building, and I can’t wait to see what she can produce this season.”
“I’m really motivated,” added Yaeger. “I want to continue to grow as a player but particularly as a leader and I’m very excited with the group we have this year. I’m also super grateful to be playing my third year with McKenna and Alex. I couldn’t speak more highly of the both of them and they’re a huge reason for me returning.”
