CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand — Join us in welcoming 6’1″ forward Sarah Mortensen to the ProcureX Mainland Pouākai for the 2026 Tauihi season!
“I’m excited to join Pouākai and become part of this community,” said Mortensen. “I’m coming in with a mindset to work, compete and constantly get better. I’m looking forward to get to know the team and perform alongside a group that shares the same ambition — to perform at our best and do whatever it takes to win.”
Mortensen brings toughness and experience to the squad, having played professionally in Germany, Spain, Iceland, Poland, Greece, and Australia. She also represents Denmark in international play, most recently competing at the FIBA Women’s Eurobasket Qualifiers.
“We are excited to be signing Sarah,” said Pouākai General Manager Caleb Harrison. “Both McKenna (Dale) and Sarah (Mortensen) have been team mates with the East Perth Eagles during the most recent NBL1 season. So having that chemistry between McKenna and Sarah was important in our decision to sign Sarah.”
“Prior to the NBL1 season Sarah was a member of AO Amyntas in the highly respected Greek women’s league. Sarah has a wealth of experience playing regularly for the Denmark National team. Fans are going to enjoy Sarah’s defensive versatility and her activeness rebounding the ball.”
During her time across the ditch, Mortensen played alongside Pouākai forward McKenna Dale in the Australian NBL1 West, averaging 19.6 points and 11.7 rebounds for the East Perth Eagles. Her impressive contributions earned her All-NBL1 West Second Team honours.
“I’m coming in ready to bring energy, physicality and versatility on both ends of the floor,” added Mortensen. “I want to make an impact every night, set the tone and be someone my teammates can count on when it matters most.”
