Pouākai Sign Six New Development Players

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand – The ProBuild ITM Mainland Pouākai have completed their local core, adding six first-year development players for the 2025 Tauihi season.

Hannah Toli (Kaiapoi High School), Anika Shaw (Kaiapoi High School), Nadia de Thierry (St. Andrew’s College), Ava Jones (St. Andrew’s College), Emilia Ainley (St. Andrew’s College), Ruby Cutbush (Marian College).

“I’m excited to welcome our development players to the Pouākai squad,” said Head Coach Alex Stojkovic. “As a club, it’s really important for us to expose young, up-and-coming players to a professional environment.”

“There’s nothing better than rubbing shoulders with some of the best players from New Zealand and abroad. Training alongside them, seeing their daily habits, and understanding what it takes to perform at the next level will be invaluable lessons as these young ladies prepare for the next steps in their basketball journey.”

“We also hope the experience they gain here will flow back into the local school and representative space. That connection between Pouākai and the wider community is something we value deeply.

“This year, the main goal is for our development players to learn and grow. Any minutes they might earn on the floor will simply be the icing on the cake. We’re delighted to welcome Hannah, Anika, Nadia, Ava, Emilia, and Ruby to the squad.”
