With less than a month left until the new season tips off, we’re excited to welcome Tessa Morrison back to the Mainland Pouākai!
Morrison has spent the past couple of seasons across the ditch playing in the NBL1 West with the East Perth Eagles. This past season, Morrison posted game averages of 8.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and a team-high 4.4 assists.
“We’re excited to welcome Tessa back to the Pouākai,” said Head Coach Paul Flynn. “Tessa enjoyed a solid season playing in Australia with East Perth.”
“She can score the ball in a variety of ways and her speed across the floor is a huge value add to our offensive arsenal. Tessa is a natural leader and compliments the high character of this Pouākai team.”
During the inaugural Tauihi season in 2022, Morrison suited up in all 12 games and averaged 12.3 minutes per game alongside 2.8 points per game.
“It’s a great opportunity to be able to come home and play in front of friends, family and home crowds, as well as with and for a team full of high calibre players and coaches,” said Morrison.
“I have played the last two seasons in the NBL1 West for East Perth Eagles but with the scheduling change I am excited that I get to now play both Tauihi and NBL1!”
Tessa Morrison strengthens our squad, joining Esra McGoldrick, Sharne Robati, Mikhaela Cann, Cassandra Brown, McKenzie Forbes, Tara Manumaleuga, Haliegh Reinoehl, Ashlee Strawbridge, and Lauren Tewhata on the 2024 Pouākai. Stay tuned for more player announcements coming your way soon!
